We're
still under heavy construction (gray type indicates pages that are still
in progress) but over the next few months you will see most of the
pages become fully operational. Until then, we wanted to get this site
up and running prior to the release of the inaugural print edition of
Ancient Art magazine. So be patient and feel free to have a look around.
And while you're at it, take a moment to visit our Guestbook
and add your valued comments and suggestions.
Introduction This site was originally intended as the online site for information and notification of the forthcoming print edition of Ancient Art: The Magazine of Antiquities and Archaeology, scheduled for worldwide released in April 2001. But the resources and nature of the internet have allowed this site to evolve into several distinct but interrelated "subsites" and expand our original vision severalfold. Print Edition First and foremost, this site acts as the home base for the print edition of Ancient Art. As such, it acts as an information source where you will find listings for our staff, offices, guidelines for writers, and information about advertising along with subscription and other pertinent information. The print edition of Ancient Art is a coffee table quality magazine measuring 8 1/2 x 11 inches on glossy-coated paper and lavishly illustrated in four-color and black and white. It is edited for the scholar, curator, gallery owner, serious collector, general interest reader, and student alike. Inside you will find feature articles; profiles; reviews of exhibitions, auction sales and market reports, books, and global art fairs; news, calendar of events; stolen art alert; conservation and preservation tips; excavations and discoveries; and a wealth of other material. To learn more about the print edition, go to The Magazine. e-Zine Simply put, the e-Zine represents all those applications and services not seen or possible in the print version of Ancient Art. Although it shares the home page with the electronic version of the print magazine, the e-Zine has it's own unique characteristics. For example, it lists hundreds of ancient art and archaeology Books that are available for purchase by simply clicking and ordering. Another distinctive feature of the e-Zine is its ability to create an interactive relationship with our viewers, like the Guestbook, where you can leave comments or suggestions regarding the magazine or this site. Another interactive location, impossible in a print publication, is the Links page. Here, with the click of your mouse, you will be transported, via the internet, to the Louvre in Paris, archaeological digs in China, or to groups and organizations you may have never heard of. |

All of
the following pages are still under active development but will be up
and running soon. We will announce them in the print magazine, at this
site, and by e-mail. Watch for them.
Newsletter The bi-monthly online Newsletter is a compilation, by international art writers and critics, of inside global news and information on antiquities and archaeology not found in the pages of Ancient Art magazine. Auction Independent of the print magazine, e-Zine, and Newsletter, will be the online Ancient Art Auction site. Here visitors will be able to place bids on authentic works of ancient art offered by major galleries, museums and private collectors from around the world. Message Board The Message Board is where you can send us information on upcoming exhibitions and other events, information on digs, major discoveries, promotions, appointments, deaths, and all other news for publication consideration in Ancient Art magazine. Galleries At this location visitors will find pages by major galleries and private dealers where you can view unique antiquities available for purchase. Marketplace Another welcomed addition will be the Shopper's Bazaar, where a dazzling array of ancient art reproductions, jewelry, furniture, accessories, clothing, posters, and other fascinating gift items from around the world can be found. Ancient Art List Here subscribers can exchange ideas, questions and answers, or leave non-commerical notices specifically related to the fields of ancient art and archaeology. You must be a subscriber to Ancient Art magazine in order to access this service. Art Alert A public service page listing antiquities reported stolen. |
